REGINA GRANTHAM IN REMEMBRANCE
It is with true sorrow that we alert you of the passing of Regina Grantham on January 13, 2025.
Regina, and her late husband Bob Grantham, were heartfelt supporters of the Loaves and Fishes program. Regina followed Bob on the Board at Loaves and Fishes and served multiple terms prior to her retirement from the Board in 2022. Regina was then recognized as Loaves and Fishes first Board Member Emeritus, a role she actively served in until her death.
Loaves and Fishes, Grace and Holy Spirit Church and the Grantham’s have a long, connected and gratifying history. Loaves and Fishes has had the good fortune to be a welcome guest in the Church’s parish hall and kitchen since 1986. Regina served in many leadership roles at Grace Episcopal Church and, after the merger of the congregations, with Grace and Holy Spirit Church. Regina was instrumental in the merger of the congregations in 2014.
Following the fire at GHS in 2016 Regina was a staunch advocate for Loaves and Fishes during the process of restoring the church and the return of our meals program to GHS in 2017. As SUNY Cortland President Bitterbaum noted in his eulogy of Regina “She was inquisitive and reflective, and she always had heartfelt advice for anyone in need.” Regina was a firm supporter of Loaves and Fishes School Backpack program from its launch in 2018.
In addition to her activities in support of Loaves and Fishes and Grace and Holy Spirit Church, Regina had a professional educational career second to none. She was recognized for numerous professional achievements. But what we believe Regina saw as more important, she was fully supportive of her students, the college community and the broader Cortland community with her activities to advance racial and social justice both on the college campus and in the broader community. Feeding the hungry was a natural fit for Regina’s commitment.
Regina will be sorely missed by everyone associated with Loaves and Fishes.
